瑶族节令繁多，各支系节令既有共性也有个性。春节、社节、清明节、七月祭祖等为5各支系瑶族共同的节日，其中春节最为盛大，过节都要杀猪、杀鸡、杀鸭，打“糍粑”，做年糕，备足各种年货;其他节日，各支系的庆祝方式也有所差异。
各支系有自己的特殊节令。为防旱保苗，茶山瑶、盘瑶过分龙节，茶山瑶、花蓝瑶过保苗节。农历四月初九，是长垌、罗香、六巷一带山子瑶的“禾魂节”。在农作物将要收割的农历八月末至九月初，茶山瑶、花蓝瑶、盘瑶过尝新节，全家人吃新米饭，欢庆丰收。
